2014: A Year To Remember, Hello 2015.

2014 was a year to remember for me. A lot of great things happened throughout the course of the year. Since I’m a bit short on words for this yearly recap. All I did for this year was a collage of some special moments that happened last year.

Looking at this collage, there were plenty of great moments that happened during 2014. The day, I finally finished my college education after a four year journey filled with success and failures. The baccalaureate mass, that came prior to graduation where they announced the honor roll which I made it and our exit through the Arch of the Centuries. That two day stretch where I won my final competitions bringing honor to the university along the way. The practicum at Marsman where I got involved in the preparation and execution of the trips during the course of the semester. The Quezon City Food Festival and fireworks display with the Claret Alumni Homecoming on the side where I got to meet our AFP Chief of Staff who was also an alumnus of the school. To family reunions on both sides of my family from Christmas to my father’s 50th birthday. To reunions with my friends from both high school and college whether it’s birthday parties or simple catch-up moments with them. I also lived the life of a passionate sports fan following my teams along the way from following the Houston Rockets transition into one of the most polarizing NBA teams today to the inspirational run by Gilas Pilipinas in the FIBA World Cup.

Despite these fun moments in 2014, there were some few hiccups and sad moments along the way. From witnessing that painful first round exit the Rockets suffered at the hands of the Portland Trail Blazers to the disastrous Asian Games stint of Gilas Pilipinas which led to the ousting of coach Chot Reyes. To the death of my grandmother from my mother’s side. To being rejected in the sole job interview I took (Yes, I took more vacation time than job-seeking and I do not regret it).

In ending, I am thankful for the year has passed. Now that the year 2015 has arrived with some important events coming like the visit of Pope Francis in the country, a few weeks from now. I’m looking forward to a great year ahead. I hope I can finally land a job soon and help my family out and save up for my own. I hope that you will still be a part of the year at hand.

Good bye 2014, thanks for the memories. Hello 2015!

On the highway to nowhere. The Subic Bay Chronicles.

Last Friday, my family went on a trip up north to Subic Bay in Zambales. But, before we got to the place we will be staying in, a lot of things happened on the long trip from Manila to Subic Bay. In Bulacan, we saw the ongoing construction of the Philippine Arena along Bocaue.

We also got to savor the scenery along NLEx. But as soon as we got into our exit in NLExin Pampanga, we got into a hailstorm, that’s right hail fell from the skies accompanied by lightning that was very close to the road. As soon as we got into the SCTEX, the weather improved and we got to see the sights and scenery of the SCTEx as well as the Subic-Tipo Expressway.

We arrived in Subic Bay in the late afternoon, and we had dinner at a Jollibee there since I wanted to eat their Amazing Aloha burgeronce again, four years after it last came back for a limited offering. Afterwards, we started the trip to the place were staying in near the airport. We went around circles in the area without knowing we passed the place we were supposed to turn to get to our destination thrice. Since the car was running short on gas we took a detour to gas up. Then finally on the fourth attempt, we got to the right place and arrived at the place we’re staying. As soon as we got into the house, it was complete with a lot of amenities from high definition satellite television, air conditioning units, very fast internet connectionand a nice view of Subic Bay and the airport. We settled in for the night then after.

As I woke up the following day, it was already late in the morning and right away I got to see the scenery of Subic Bayfrom the vantage point of the house. Then the rest of our relatives arrived at the house from Manila. Where we had a nice lunch by the nice scenery. I took a photo of the scenery in the afternoon and I got a photo of myself with it.

Then I got to roam around the area to savor the nice view of Subic Bay from the airport. At home, well I savored the moment of watching television in high definition from channels like History, HBO, NBA Premium TVto name a few. As well as taking advantage of high speed internet connections at the place. Then we settled in for dinner, and afterwards watched a movie before settling in for the night.

Then on our last day there, I woke up early in the morning and had a nice breakfast, as well as getting ready to leave the house for the trip back home. While the others were packing. We watched Game 6 of the Pacers-Knicks series in HD. It was worth the treat for me as a basketball fan getting to watch a live NBA game in HD was something special. After the game, we all left the house for the last time. But before we left the area, we took one last picture as a family with the view of the place as well as the scenery.

Once we left the area, we went on a detour along Subic Bay, travelling the open road to places filled with trees even monkeys. We went to the place where Ocean Adventure and Camayan Beach Resort is located so we took a look at the places before heading back to the center of Subic Bay. Along the way, we stumbled upon a tall fire tree and we took pictures with it.

Afterwards, we went to the center of Subic Bay where we went to buy some things at the duty free stores within the free port area. We saved a lot from buying some stuff along the way, including a gallon’s worth of ice cream for the price less than a 3L Selecta ice cream bought elsewhere in the Philippines. I also got to buy myself a new Adidas shoe from their outlet store in the area.

After buying from the duty free stores, we went for lunch at Xtremely Xpresso where they have nice food from 22” pizzas with lower prices than a 18” Yellow Cab Pizza. As well as a tasty meat lasagna. I also got to try their Coffee Jelly Frappe drink which has a strong taste but is also good. After lunch, we went in for the long trip back to Manila.

So yeah it was pretty much a rewarding experience to get to Subic Bay for the first time in my life. I sure will come back again and get a nice deal here especially with the duty free shops in the area. It’s also a great place because of the discipline here which is way better than here in Manila, traffic enforcement here is strict unlike other parts of the country. I sure hope I’ll be coming here again in the near future.

Finding my solitude right here.

19 YEARS STRONG!

So yeah, another year ends in my journey. April 30has come again on the calendar sheets, and I usher in a brand new year of this journey called LIFE.

As the title states, I’m already 19 years old starting today. Well, this April 30 was a bit different than in previous years. In the past couple of years, I threw parties for all my close PEEPS. However, this year I spent my whole day with my entire family. Since I‘m saving my party money for the NBA game this October here in the Philippines. Because my team, the Houston Rockets will be playing in that game against the Indiana Pacers.

We went to SM North EDSA to have my birthday lunch at Shakey’s. Well, I didn’t ask for their birthday choir which they do on birthdays of people who dine on all their branches nationwide. Afterwards, we went buying a few clothing. Then before we went back home for the rest of the day. We bought some desserts like pastillas, brownies and ice cream to enjoy for the rest of the day. It’s a shame though I wasn’t able to take photos along the way since our camera has been lost and we can’t find it along our home for the past month. Though I didn’t get to spend it with other people in person, it was worth spending time with my family on my day. Add to that, I got a nice birthday win from the Houston Rockets as they won Game 4 against the Oklahoma City Thunder in the NBA Playoffs 105-103 to keep their season alive. I was watching the game until halftime, but I had to bail out since we had to go on that trip for lunch. At least, they got the win and no brooms were sweeping on my birthday.

I’ll take this moment to thank those who remembered my birthday with all the greetings and best wisheson Facebook & Twitter, as well as those who texted my phone for their well wishes. You all have played a part in my life and I’m always thankful to each and every one of you. One thing that made my day is that I was greeted by my “crush” as well as a good old friend of mine. It truly made my day even special. Sorry I can’t throw a party this year because like I said earlier, I‘m saving for the game. I hope I can throw one next year as I finish the mission which is to graduate.

Of course, I’ll thank my familyfor always being there for me in my life from the start until the very end. Finally, I thank God that I made it through another year of my life, and I’ll always look up to you every step in my life. I’m hopeful that this year will be filled with a lot of blessings.

Danke! Merci! Thank You! Salamat!
19 years on, I still got a lot to prove.

Smacked in the middle of my favorite month of the year.

Well, it‘s the 15th of April. We‘re right in the middle of my favorite month of the year and the weather just keeps getting hotter with each day that pass bywhich means we’re right in the middle of the summer vacation. Well, I’ve been into a lot of places along the way from places within the Metro like Makati and SM North EDSA to hang out with the family, and to places outside of it like Batangas and Los Baños to grab some fresh air and relax. I also got my salary for the sideline job I did at the start of the month, and I’m happy I got more than what we bargained for in this job as I’m saving up for the upcoming NBA preseason game between my favorite team the Houston Rocketsand the Indiana Pacers here in the Philippines this October 10 at the Mall of Asia Arena. I’ve been waiting to see the Rockets play a game since I became a member of Red Nation in 2002 when Yao Ming came to Houston. This is a chance to see them play without having to leave the country and go to Texas to watch a Rockets home game (I’ll still be aiming for it soon.) To see guys like James Harden, Jeremy Lin, Chandler Parsonsand Omer Asik to name some will be worth all the marbles.

Speaking of the NBA, watch out for my regular season ending blog coming up on the final day of the 2012-13 NBA regular season this Thursday as we also prepare you for the upcoming 2013 NBA Playoffs. We know that the 8 playoff teams out East are complete with the defending champions Heat, together with the Knicks, Pacers, Nets, Hawks, Bulls, Celtics & Bucks. While the Lakers and Jazz are fighting for the last spot out West to join the Thunder, Spurs, Nuggets, Clippers, Grizzlies, Rockets & Warriors in the 2013 NBA Playoffs. Yes! My team, the Rockets are back in the Playoffs since 2009. I hope they’ll have a nice playoff run especially these are still young guns.

Also, I got to watch WrestleMania 29 on television. Unlike last year at WrestleMania XXVIII, where there was a free screening at TriNoma in Quezon City on the day itself. We had to settle for the delayed telecast on Studio 23.

Well as more of a member of Cenation than Team Bring It. I was happy that John Cena defeated The Rock in their rematch for Rock’s WWE Championship where we saw a ton of finishers from the Rock Bottom (Cena himself pulled off one of his own), the Attitude Adjustment, The People’s Elbow, the STF, the Sharpshooter. Though Cena would suffer from the wrath of Ryback on the Raw afterwards. Also Triple H saved his career by defeating Brock Lesnar in a No Holds Barred match. While The Undertaker goes 21-0 at WrestleMania after beating CM Punk. Alberto del Rio retaining the World Heavyweight Championship against Jack Swagger (Del Rio would lose it to Dolph Ziggler who cashed in his Money in the Bank briefcase on Raw). Fandango shocking the world by beating Chris Jericho and leaving fans crazy on his theme song. Team Hell No retaining their Tag Team titles against Ziggler and Big E Langston as the crowd chanted “Yes! Yes! Yes!” on their victory. Mark Henry beating Ryback, but Ryback had the last laugh. As well The Shield beating Sheamus, Randy Orton and The Big Show, afterwards Show turned against Orton and Sheamus knocking them both out.

Yes, we’re halfway into my favorite month of the year, and we’re closing in on my favorite day of the year where I’ll grow old a bit more. I still don’t have any plans for that day. But I’ll figure something out soon. As I write some more with the planner I have as well as adding songs to my music playlist, look for our camera which has been lost for more than a month right now, write when our internet connection just came back, looking back at some of the great memories of a lifetime, saying you miss a ton of people along the way, and look for someone to play basketball with. Let us be remind ourselves to savor each moment that comes into our lives.

On one final note which has been long overdue. Once again, Congratulations to the CTHM Batch 2013 on their graduation last April 4, especially to my very talented and very smart quiz bee teammates Ate Marian Buenaventura who finished Magna Cum Laude and Ate Kriskyn Cabrera who finished Summa Cum Laude and the best student of the batch. I’ll miss you a ton as teammates but you both will leave a legacy which I will continue together with the team we’ll form next school year.

Taking life, one day at a time.

What time is it? It’s CHRISTMAS TIME!

It’s that time of the year once again, where every one is happy and in good spirits. As well as a time to remember, the birth of our savior Jesus Christ. It’s CHRISTMAS once again! Well here’s how my Christmas went down.

On Christmas Eve, we started the day preparing for the meals to be served by lunch and dinner, well I assembled the Lasagna we’re going to serve for our relatives. Then by lunch time, we spent our Christmas lunch with my relatives on my mother’s side of the family. Well, there were a lot of food aside from our Lasagna, there were also Kare-Kare, my cousin‘s Chicken, barbeque, and a lot more with softdrinks to compliment. We also spent time with my cousins and relatives After lunch, we exchanged gifts. I got some cash, as well as a new 4GB USB that looks like Master Yoda from Star Wars and a new security wallet which were very nice.

Afterward a short stay at home, we went on the road again, this time down south to Batangas to spend Christmas Eve with my relatives on my father’s side of the family. After dinner, We spent a lot of time with my cousins and relatives there. Well, I was tired during that point, that I fell asleep. When they woke me up, it’s Christmas Day! and we went down for our Noche Buena. After a short rest, we went back on the road to return home. As soon as we arrived at around 4am, we made up time to sleep. We woke up in the middle of the day, where I came out and started greeting every one through text and on Facebook and Twitter, then we spent a nice lunch with the whole family. Later, we went for the Christmas mass at around 4pm. After the mass, we headed to the nearby Starbucks branch where FINALLY, I got to complete the 17 stickers needed for the 2013 Starbucks Planner.

As we arrived home, my younger brother’s girlfriend as well as her younger brother came in and brought with them their XBOX 360 Kinect. Where we got to try out some of the games, including Kinect Sports. I had fun playing the Baseball part of the game, but I suck at Bowling. Also, I got to play one game of NBA 2K13.

Well, that caps of my Christmas 2012,  I hope you had a great time on Christmas Day with your families and friends. May your lives be blessed with the bless and Hey! We’re one week away from ushering in 2013! I’ll leave you with this.

MERRY CHRISTMAS! MALIGAYANG PASKO! FROHE WEINACHTEN! JOYEUX NOËL!
